چکیده

Ortho-Radial drawings are a generalization of orthogonal drawings to grids that are formed by concentric circles and straight-line spokes emanating from the circles’ center. Such drawings have applications in schematic graph layouts, e.g., for metro maps and destination maps. A plane graph is a planar graph with a fixed planar embedding. We give a combinatorial characterization of the plane graphs that admit a planar ortho-radial drawing without bends. Previously, such a characterization was only known for paths, cycles, and theta graphs [12], and in the special case of rectangular drawings for cubic graphs [11], where the contour of each face is required to be a rectangle. The characterization is expressed in terms of an ortho-radial representation that, similar to Tamassia’s orthogonal representations for orthogonal drawings describes such a drawing combinatorially in terms of angles around vertices and bends on the edges. In this sense our characterization can be seen as a first step towards generalizing the Topology-Shape-Metrics framework of Tamassia to ortho-radial drawings.

Bend Minimization of Ortho-Radial Graph Drawings

We study orthogonal drawings of 4-planar graphs on cylinders—so called ortho-radial drawings. Equivalently these can be regarded as drawings on an ortho-radial grid formed by concentric circles and rays from the center of these circles but excluding the center itself. Ortho-radial drawings form a proper extension of orthogonal drawings in the plane. We present ortho-radial representations as a ...

Ortho-radial drawings of graphs

By an ortho-radial drawing of a graph we mean a planar drawing on concentric circles such that each edge is an alternating sequence of circular and radial segments, where a circular segment is a part of a circle and a radial segment is a part of a half-line starting at the center of the circles. Ortho-radial drawings are topologically an extension of orthogonal drawings to drawings on a cylinde...

COMPOSITION OF ISOGEOMETRIC ANALYSIS WITH LEVEL SET METHOD FOR STRUCTURAL TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION

In the present paper, an approach is proposed for structural topology optimization based on combination of Radial Basis Function (RBF) Level Set Method (LSM) with Isogeometric Analysis (IGA). The corresponding combined algorithm is detailed. First, in this approach, the discrete problem is formulated in Isogeometric Analysis framework. The objective function based on compliance of particular lo...

Combining Graph Labeling and Compaction

Combinations of graph drawing and map labeling problems yield challenging mathematical problems and have direct applications, e.g., in automation engineering. We call graph drawing problems in which subsets of vertices and edges need to be labeled graph labeling problems. Unlike in map labeling where the position of the objects is specified in the input, the coordinates of vertices and edges in...

A Radial Adaption of the Sugiyama Framework for Hierarchical Graph Drawing

In radial drawings of hierarchical graphs the vertices are drawn on concentric circles instead of on horizontal lines as in the standard Sugiyama framework. This drawing style is well suited for the visualisation of centrality in social networks and similar concepts. Radial drawings also allow a more flexible edge routing than horizontal drawings, as edges can be routed around the center in two...
